STERKEM PHARMA group of companies was established in 1974 and has continued to market quality pharmaceuticals for over a third of a century. We are family based enterprise that has been a brand leader for Anti-arthritic drugs viz. Inmecin (Indomethacin) and its allied products. Injectable formulations, both powder and liquid were among the first products marketed by Sterkem. Today our marketing domain includes Anti-arthritic, Antidepressants, Analgesics, Antibiotics, and a range of Gynaecological and Obstetric drugs in different formulations. The most recent additions to our range of products are Multi-Vitamins, Anti-oxidants and Nutritional Supplements that strengthen the immune system.
Our company thrives by keeping pace with constant advancements in the field of medicine. The hallmarks of our products are high quality and reliability. From its inception, Sterkem has marketed products manufactured by pioneers in the Indian pharmaceutical sector, such as Sterfil Lab Pvt. Ltd., Surmount Lab Pvt. Ltd, and EM Pharma Pvt. Ltd. (part of the family owned Sterkem Group). We persevere to provide medicines with improved therapeutic effect while adhering to ethical and humane practices to bridge the gap between Doctors and ailing patients.
In 1974 Sterfil Labs was the second company in the country to start production of powder injections and then expanded their operations to manufacture most of the sterile powder injections consumed in India.1981 – Second factory under the name of Surmount Labs was eshtablished by Dr.Mayank J. Patel in Gujarat for the manufacturing of tablets, capsules, oral liquids and topical formulations.
At the same time, under the expert guidance of Dr. J. L. Patel research was conducted on Extended Release Indomethacin and Sterkem Group became the First company in India to launch Inmecin-R 75mg Sustained Release formulation.
In 2012 Sterkem conducted research on the novel formulations for Indomethacin and successfully launched Indomethacin tablets and Indomethacin Gel. Inmecin 25 & 50mg tablets offer quick action and better efficacy, while Inmecin Gel can be simultaneously applied topically for local action.

Late Dr. J. L. Patel
DIRECTOR
Dr. J. L. Patel (Ph.D) from Wisconsin University U.S.A. is associated with Pharma industry since last more than 50 years and has successfully commissioned manufacturing plants in India and abroad. His guiding force is in Quality Control and manufacturing segments. He has worked with MSD (Merck Sharp & Dohme) for fifteen years and thereafter joined Themis group as a part owner and eventually became owner of companies started by him. His achievement in Research and Manufacturing can be summed up rightly by what Dr. J. L. Patel is fondly known as in the Pharmaceutical fraternity; the “Father of Sterile formulations in India.

Mr. Ajit Desai, (B.Com; C.S) Mumbai University is an astute finance man with proven administrative Capabilities and has over 30 years Pharma experience. He is now responsible for all the operations of Sterkem Pharma company.
Dr.(Mrs) Heena. M. Patel
DIRECTOR
Dr. (Mrs) Heena M. Patel (MBBS, D.A.) Mumbai University. Associated with us since, inception looks after introduction of new Products, Detailing of all products, preparation & designing of Visual Aids, Labels, Cartons etc. She is also responsible for Product training to the entire field staff of the company. She has been the Chairperson of I.M.A. Women’s Wing – B.W.S.B. Juhu for more than Five years. Actively participates in all the conferences and activities of Indian Medical Association. She has been awarded Rashtriya Gaurav Award from Gujarat Govt. & Lions Gold Award from Lions Club of Mumbai SOL.
Late Dr. M. J. Patel
Late Dr.M. J. Patel – M.B.B.S D.M.R.D. (Radiology) Mumbai University. Surmount Labs was started by Dr.Mayank J. Patel who was awarded Doctor of the Millennium for his philanthropic work. With his expertise, he developed the Marketing Division of Sterkem Pharma. He travelled all over India to set up the Distribution and marketing team. Over the years he played a very pivotal role of liason between the Management and Marketing team leading to the success of the company. Under his able leadership and guidance the Sales team achieved the targets and promoted the growth of the company. With his cordial relation, he was a source of inspiration to all.
